Drumstick Sambar(ଛୁଇଁ ସାମ୍ବର)

Ingredients:

  • Toor Dal - 1 cup
  • Onion(cube size) - 3
  • Tomatos - 2-3 medium
  • Drumstick - 1-2 large cut into pieces
  • Tamarind Pulp - 2 tbsp
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar - 1 tsp
  • Sambar Powder - 3 to 4 tbsp
  • Oil - 1 tbsp
  • Mustard Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Cumin Seeds - 1 tsp
  • Red chiilies - 2
  • Curry leaves - 1/2 cup
  • Hing - 1/4 tsp

Method:

  • Wash the dals really well. In the pressure cooker,put the dal along with onions,tomatos,turmeric and water. cover and cook for at least 1 whistle till daln is 3/4th cooked.

  • Now add in drumstick, salt, sugar, tamarind pulp, sambar powder and mix well. Bring this to boil and simmer again for 15 mins till everything is cooked.

  • Now make seasoning by heating oil and crackling mustard,dry chillies,curry leaves and cumin. Add in asafoetida and mix well.
  • Pour this over the sambar and mix well.
  • Serve with rice.
