Potato cabbage curry(ଆଳୁ ବନ୍ଧାକୋବି ତରକାରୀ)

Ingredients:

  • Cabbage(slice) - 1 medium(ବନ୍ଧାକୋବି)
  • Potato(cube size) - 3 (ଆଳୁ)
  • Onion - 3(2 for paste,1 for temper)(ପିଆଜ
  • Tomato(paste) - 2 medium(ଟମାଟର)
  • Garlic - 10 (ରସୁଣ
  • Ginger - 1 inch(ଅଦା)
  • White peas/green peas/chana dal - 1/2 cup(ମଟର)
  • Whole garam masala - (Bayleaf(ତେଜ ପତ୍ର) - 1, Cinnamon - 1 inch(ଡାଲଚିନି, Cardamom -2(ଗୁଜୁରାତି,Laung(ଲବଙ୍ଗ) -2-3,Black pepper(ଗୋଲ୍ ମରିଚ - 4-5) 
  • Coriander seeds - 1 tsp(ଧନିଆ )
  • Chilly powder -1 tsp(ଲଙ୍କା ଗୁଣ୍ଡ)
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp(ଜିରା)
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp(ହଳଦୀ ଗୁଣ୍ଡ
  • Oil - 2 tbsp(ତେଲ
  • Salt to taste(ଲୁଣ)
  • Coriander leaves(chopped) -1 tbsp(ଧନିଆ ପତ୍ର)

Method:

  • Cut the cabbage into tiny slices. Also cut the potatoes into small cube sizes.

  •  Heat oil in a pan.Add cabbage and cook it along with turmeric and salt till half cooked and keep a side.


  • Same time make paste of ginger,garlic,onion,cumin seeds and coriander and keep a side.
  • Heat oil in pan.Add whole garam masala and saute it.
  • Then add the onion slices and fry it till it turns light brown.
  • Add the masala paste to it and saute it for 5 mins on medium flame. 
  • Add the tomatoes,turmeric,chilly powder,salt and continue to fry till the paste is well cooked.
  • Then add the cabbage, potatoes, peas and mix it properly.
  • Cover the lid and cook it in a medium flame till the cabbage and potatoes tender cooked .
  • Serve it hot with Roti or Paratha.
