Fish head mix curry(ମାଛ ଘାଣ୍ଟ ତରକାରୀ)

 Ingredients:

  • Chana dal - 1 cup(ଚଣା ଡାଲି
  • Fish head - 2(ମାଛ ମୁଣ୍ଡ)
  • Fish tail - 1(ମାଛ )
  • Potato(cube size) -1(ଆଳୁ
  • Raw banana(cube size)-1(କଦଳି)
  • Brinjal - 1(ବାଇଗଣ)
  • Pumkin - 1/2 cup (କଖାରୁ)
  • Ginger -1/2 inch(ଅଦା)
  • Garlic - 10 pods(ରସୁଣ
  • Onion(chopped) - 2 medium(1 for tempering and 1 for paste)(ଆଳୁ
  • Tomato paste - 2 medium(ଟମାଟର)
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp(ଜିରା)
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp(ହଳଦୀ ଗୁଣ୍ଡ
  • Chilly powder - 1 tsp(ଲଙ୍କା ଗୁଣ୍ଡ)
  • Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp(ଗରମ ମସଲା
  • Curry masala powder - 1 tsp(ତରକାରୀ ମସଲା)
  • Mustard oil - 2 -3 tbsp(ସୋରିଷ ତେଲ
  • Coriander leaves(chopped) - 2 tbsp(ଧନିଆ ପତ୍ର)
  • Cinnamon stick - 1 inch (ଡାଲଚିନି
  • Cardamon - 2 nos(ଗୁଜୁରାତି
  • Bay leaf - 1 nos(ତେଜ ପତ୍ର
  • Salt to taste(ଲୁଣ)
Method:
  • Wash and soak the channa dal for 2-3 hours. 
  • Marinate the fish with salt and turmeric for about 5 minutes. 
  • Grind the onion,ginger,garlic and cumin seeds & make smooth paste.
  • After that grind the chopped tomato to make paste.
  • Heat 2 tsp oil in a pan. Add the fish and fry till it turns reddish. Crush it in the pan itself and keep aside.
  • Cook the soaked channa dal,potato,banana,brinjal,pumkin(you can add other vegetable also) with a little water, salt and turmeric in a pressure cooker for 1 whistle. Keep aside.
  • Heat the oil in a pan
  • Add onion and saute it till light brown color.
  • Then add ginger garlic paste along with a little salt ,turmeric powder, chilli powder and cook the masala for 5 mins.
  • Add tomato paste and cook it till oil coming out. Add the crushed fish and boiled channa dal,Mix well and cook for 5 mins.
  • Add 1/2 cup of water and bring to a boil. Add more salt if required. Simmer for 5-6mins.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves and serve hot with rice/rotis.
