Mooga Dalma(ମୁଗ ଡାଲମା)

Ingredients:

  • Moong dal(soaked) - 100gmମୁଗ ଡାଲି)
  • Raw papaya(cube size) - 50gm(ଅମୃତ ଭଣ୍ଡା)
  • Potato(cube size) - 2 medium (ଆଳୁ)
  • Dry chili -4(ଶୁଖିଲା ଲଙ୍କା)
  • Green chillies - 2(ଲଙ୍କାମରିଚ)
  • French beans - 1 cup(ବିନ୍ଶ୍)
  • Cumin seeds - 2 tsp (ଜିରା)
  • Ginger(chopped) - 1 inch(ଅଦା)
  • Raw banana(cube size) - 1 medium (କଦଳି)
  • Carrot(cube) - 1 medium(ଗାଜର)
  • Bay leaves - 1(ତେଜ ପତ୍ର)
  • Turmeric powder - ½ tsp (ହଳଦୀ ଗୁଣ୍ଡ )
  • Tomato - 2 medium(ଟମାଟର)
  • Refined cooking oil/ Ghee - 3-tsp(ତେଲ)
  • Roasted dry chilli and jeera powder - 1 tsp (ଜିରା ଲଙ୍କା ଗୁଣ୍ଡ)
  • Water as required
  • salt to taste (ଲୁଣ)

Method:

  • Heat the pan and roaste jeera and dry red chillies and make it cool.

  • Grind the roasted dry chilly and jeera and keep a side.
  • In the same pan, put moong dal and saute it till it became light brown.

  • Wash it properly.
  • Heat the same pan, put moong dal along with water(as required), salt and turmeric powder.
  • Wash the vegetables thoroughly. Cut them into small pieces.

  • Put the vegetables and tomato in to the pan and boil on medium flame till vegetables cooked properly.

  • Now heat 3 teaspoon of oil or ghee in a frying pan. Add jeera,bay leaves,dry chilly and chopped ginger.
  • Fry till they turn golden brown. 
  • Now add all this to the boiled dal and vegetables and stir well.


  • Add roasted chilly and jeera powder. Close the lid and heat further for 2 minutes
  • Server hot with plain rice  or sweet pulao.
