Karela (Bitter guard) fry(କଲରା ଭଜା)

Ingredients:

  • Karela/Bitter guard - 4 medium(କଲରା)
  • Garlic - 10 pods(ରସୁଣ
  • Dry Chilli/ Green chilli - 2(ଶୁଖିଲା ଲଙ୍କା)
  • Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp(ହଳଦୀ ଗୁଣ୍ଡ )
  • Chilli powder - 1/2 tsp(ଲଙ୍କା ଗୁଣ୍ଡ)
  • Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp(ସୋରିଷ
  • Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp(ଜିରା)
  • Mustard Oil - 1-2 tbsp(ସୋରିଷ ତେଲ

Method:

  • Cut the karela, wash it and keep a side.
  • Make the coarse paste of Garlic.
  • Heat the oil in a pan.
  • Add cumin seeds and mustard seeds,when it begins cracking then add dry chilli and garlic paste and saute it for a minute.
  • Put karela in to the pan and fry it for 5 mins.
  • Finally add salt and turmeric powder and mix it properly and cover it for 2 mins.
  • Then fry it till it became light brown.
  • Serve hot with chapathi/rice.
