Prawn Malai

Ingredients:


  • Prawns - 1 kg
  • Coconut milk - 1/2 cup
  • Onions(chopped) - 2
  • Cinnamon - 2 sticks
  • Cloves - 2
  • Cardamoms - 4 green
  • Leaves - 2 bay
  • Dried red chillies - 2
  • Fresh ginger(paste)- 1 inch 
  • Turmeric powder - 2 tsp
  • Cumin powder - 2 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Cooking oil - 2 Tbsp
  • Yoghurt - 2 Tbsp
  • Sugar - 2 tsp
  • Salt to taste 

Method:

  • Marinate the prawns in turmeric and salt for an hour.
  • Saute the prawns in hot oil. Remove from the pan.
  • In the same pan saute whole garam masala and chopped onions for a minute.
  • Add ginger, sugar, turmeric, red chilli powder and cumin powder.
  • Add the sauteed prawns, coconut milk, yogurt and salt into the pan.
  • Simmer for 7-8 minutes. 
  • Add water as required and cook for 5 mins.
  • Garnish with chopped coriander and serve hot withe rice.
