Mutton Curry

Ingredients:

  • Mutton - 1/2 kg
  • Mustard Oil - 3 -4 tbsp
  • Potato  - 2 
  • Onion(sliced) - 2 medium
  • Onion paste - 2 medium
  • Garlic paste - 2 tbsp
  • Ginger paste - 1 tbsp
  • Coriander powder - 2 tsp
  • Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
  • Turmeric powder - 1 tsp
  • Red chilli powder - 1 tsp
  • Garam masala powder - 1tsp
  • Everest Mutton Masala - 3 tsp
  • Ghee - 1 - 2tsp
  • Cinnamon stick - 1 inch 
  • Cardamom - 5
  • Black pepper - 10
  • Laung - 3
  • Salt to taste
  • Chopped coriander to garnish

Method

  • Heat the cooking oil in a heavy bottomed pan, on medium heat.
  • When hot ,put cumin seeds, whole garam masala(cinnamon,cardamom,pepper and laung) and saute it for couple of min. 
  • Then add the onion paste. Sauté for 2-3 minutes.
  • Now add Ginger garlic paste, Turmeric powder, Coariander powder and chilly powder and mix it well and cook it till raw smell goes out and  the oil begins to separate from it. This can take up to 10 minutes to happen.
  • Now add the goat/ mutton pieces to the masala, season with salt to taste, Garam masala and Everest mutton masala and stir to fully coat the goat/ mutton pieces with the masala. Sauté till the goat/ mutton is browned well.
  • Put 1-2 tsp Ghee and mix it.
  • Add 1(as required) cup of hot water to the pan, stir to mix well, simmer the heat and cover the lid and cook on medium flame till 2-3 whistle. 
  • When the meat is cooked, garnish with chopped coriander and serve with rice or Chakuli Pitha.
